Yokohama Psychotherapy Office provides face-to-face psychotherapy and family therapy in Yokohama. Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan, including amazingly modernized buildings such as the Land Mark Tower and foreign buildings standing next to the port area. It is located about 50 km. southwest of Tokyo.
Mr. Jiro Otawa is a trained and licensed clinical psychotherapist who has been offering counseling in Japanese for more than five years in his private practice. On occasion, he assists couples who are expressing difficulties in inter-cultural marriage living in Japan or abroad on the phone. He earned his Master’s degree from Yokohama National University in 1986.
Prior to his private practice in Yokohama, he worked at Kono Psycho-education Institute for ten years. In the meantime, he gained more experience at hospital, EAP, and school. In addition, he has taught in a variety of schools and organizations in Japan; for instance, Mr. Jiro Otawa was a visiting professor at Nihon University for seven years and was teaching the Human Relations focusing on communication in Nursing School for two years. He has given a series of lectures at Asahi Culture Center and Kanagawa Culture Center, to name a few. On a weekly basis, he also provides supervision. Moreover, he was assigned by the city of Yokohama to work as a school counselor every week. Having had an extensive and intensive training, Mr. Jiro Otawa solidified his unique style of therapy called “Kanjo(Emotion)-Monitoring ”on which he later published the book.
